AfD becomes a Program Partner with Vitamin Angels

Alleviating malnutrition takes collaboration. AfD has partnered with Vitamin Angels and it has been awarded a grant of life-saving vitamins in order to improve our existing efforts in providing health services for marginalized communities in Afghanistan. AfD will be responsible for dispensing vitamins one meaningful dose at a time.

September 2020 Newsletter now available!

The September newsletter covers the period of summer 2020. AfD's programs in health and education have re-opened after the lockdown imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic. We have provided support to the children attending our schools throughout the summer with distribution of clothes and food items. We have launched a new campaign in support of the midwifery training program. We have continued advocating for improved nutrition in Afghanistan through the SUN Movement and have just launched a new capacity-building program for community health workers. AfD trains community health workers in Family MUAC

The COVID-19 pandemic has particularly impacted women and children’s health, putting many at severe risk of malnutrition. In order to help improve uptake of services for malnutrition at community level, Action for Development is in the process of launching a new project specifically designed to provide quality training to Community Health Workers (CHWs) in the Family MUAC approach.

School for street-working children: the story of Asma

Asma is a young student at AfD's school for street-working children in Kabul. The education program, launched in 2016, hosts boys and girls aged 5 to 15, providing basic literacy and numeracy skills. After the lockdown imposed by the global health emergency, AfD's schools were able to re-open in June 2020. Asma told us what it meant for her to be forced out of school.
