Over the years we have grown an enthusiastic team of talented and dedicated professionals with diverse backgrounds, responsible for managing AfD’s projects in Switzerland and Afghanistan. All staff members work on a volunteer basis, lending their expertise pro-bono so all funds invested in our organisation can go directly towards helping people of Afghanistan in need.

Zuhra Dadgar Shafiq

Program Director

Zuhra a construit sa carrière dans le développement social, la santé publique du genre et la gestion ; elle a travaillé pendant 15 ans avec différentes organisations internationales, notamment le PNUD, l'USAID, MSH, Save the Children Suède, Afghanaid, GFMER et le ministère de la Santé publique d'Afghanistan.

Elle a également une expérience professionnelle dans le domaine du développement social au Pakistan et en Afghanistan. Elle se spécialise dans la performance stratégique, la planification au niveau macro et l'élaboration de politiques.

Zuhra est le directeur de la définition de stratégie et de l’évaluation à AfD. Sa mission est de s’occuper de l’expansion stratégique de l’organisation, en se concentrant principalement sur les initiatives concernant le développement de communautés, la santé, l’éducation, et l’autonomisation des femmes. Elle a également siégé au conseil d’administration d’AfD pendant 3 ans.

Qudratullah Shafiq

Fondateur et Directeur Général

Qudrat is a specialist in public health, community-based development, procurement, supply chain management and donor coordination. He holds a MD and a MBA, having 16 years of professional experience in Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, South Africa and Switzerland, where he currently resides.

 He established AfD as a non-profit organization in Geneva in 2014; he oversees the effective implementation of AfD’s portfolio including monitoring and evaluation of the public health services in Afghanistan as well as the selection, supply and distribution of health products.

He chairs staff meetings and coordinates donor activities, strategically planning and budgeting initiatives in line with the organization’s mission. 

Elaine Malloy

Public Health Specialist

Elaine has worked in the field of Public Health for the last 20 years working mostly in the UK and in the US working with children and young people. Her work experience focuses on commissioning, developing and implementing programmes and projects that support families on the edge of social care as well as to promote and improve health and wellbeing. 

Zahra Al-Amine

Chargée de santé et nutrition

Zahra est titulaire d'une maîtrise en santé publique de l'Université américaine de Beyrouth (AUB). Elle a de l'expérience dans la recherche sur la nutrition ainsi que dans le suivi et l'évaluation et l'adaptation de programmes dans les milieux à faibles ressources.

Avant de rejoindre l’AfD, Zahra a travaillé avec le Programme alimentaire mondial (PAM) au Liban ainsi qu’avec l’Organisation mondiale de la santé (OMS) à Genève, où elle a soutenu l’unité des interventions sanitaires d’urgence dans des contextes fragiles, touchés par les conflits et vulnérables. Zahra a beaucoup travaillé avec des populations vulnérables, notamment des orphelinats, des réfugiés et des détenus au Liban ainsi qu’au Sri Lanka. Elle est passionnée par la santé et la nutrition des enfants et elle défend leurs droits. À l’AfD, Zahra travaille actuellement à l’élaboration de propositions de financement; en outre, elle développera des outils de S&E et du matériel de formation pour les filles et les femmes en Afghanistan dans le cadre du programme de santé et de nutrition.

Jenifer Silva

HR and Finance Officer

Jenifer holds a Master’s degree in International Development from American University in Washington, D.C. She worked for the Intern-American Development Bank as a Knowledge and Learning consultant.   Engaging in development projects management in Latin America and the Caribbean countries. Jenifer also worked for LULAC, U.S. oldest and largest Latino NGO, as an Administrative and HR officer and currently at AfD is assisting with HR and Finance tasks. 

Emilia Saenger

Program Development Manager

Emilia has a PhD in Science Education for the Unversidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul – Brazil. She has a Master in Projects Management  and a great deal of experience in governmental administration. Ms Saenger has been serving at Ministério da Saúde, as Project Manager, and as a Science and Technology Analyst at Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico, in Brasil. Engaging in an action towards building cooperation and social assistance through Ministry of Social Development & Fight Against Hunger Emilia managed the social affairs and external coordination of the UNDP funded project.

At AfD, Emilia is overseeing the coordination and activities related to board functions, supports the board and the management teams with maintaining clear records of the AGMs, overseas compliance with laws, articles of incorporation and regulations. Further than that, Ms Seanger is responsible for the administration and finance of the organisation where she is the focal point for managing contracts in accordance with the terms and conditions,, provide support in the areas of policies and bi-laws.

 

Beatriz Rodrigues

Communication Associate

Beatriz holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science Science and International Relations and has finished recently her Master’s degree in Business Management. She has worked as an interpreter and is currently a part of the communications team at AfD where she assists with social media and blog posts, communication strategy development and other communications and external relations activities to promote our visibility.

Laura Langhorn de Carvalho

Communication and Writing Officer

Laura is a graduate from Exeter University where she studied International Relations and Spanish, and worked at a legal and business consultancy firm in Madrid. She has been studying and working towards the protection of migrants and refugees in the not-for-profit sector.  At AfD, she is a member of the Communications Team and produced the 2022 Annual Report, creates social media and blog posts and has been instrumental in our website redesign and updates. She has also provided help with other communications activities including translation services and activities which promote our visibility such as attending and networking at UN side events and other meetings.

Zohra Kaihan

Gestionnaire des opérations

Elle a enseigné l'anglais au Said Jamaluddin Afghan Institute de 2003 à 2004 et travaille depuis 2013 en tant que responsable des opérations pour l'AfD.

Dr. Zabi Rahimi

Coordinateur de formation et formateur de sage-femmes

Il est pédiatre né à Kaboul en 1966. Diplômé de l'Université de Kaboul, il a travaillé pour diverses organisations internationales dont l'USAID.

Il est coordinateur de formation et formateur de sage-femmes pour AfD depuis 2014.

Sania Nezami

Coordinatrice pour l’école pour enfants des rues.

Elle a étudié à l'Institut technique professionnel afghan. Elle travaille en tant que coordinatrice scolaire pour le projet de retour à l'école des enfants des rues de l'AfD

Son rôle est de coordonner les activités entre le bureau de Genève et l'école de Kaboul.

Haroon Noori

Chargé d’administration et finances

Il est titulaire d'une licence en histoire et sociologie de l'Université de Kaboul. Il est également diplômé en comptabilité et gestion.

Avant de rejoindre l’AfD, Haroon a occupé différents postes chez Action contre la Faim – en tant que traducteur et professeur d’anglais, en tant que comptable, et travaillant dans la logistique et l’approvisionnement. Haroon apporte cette expérience à son rôle de responsable administratif et financier.
