Roundtable discussion on Chronic Malnutrition

Action for Development (AfD), together with the Afghanistan Human Rights Organization (AHRO) and Action Against Hunger (ACF) conducted a round table discussion on the issue of chronic malnutrition (stunting) in Afghanistan. According to UNICEF, Afghanistan has the highest rate of stunting in children under the age of five (41 percent).  The conference was held within the global SUN Movement and as part of the national platform of the Afghanistan Civil Society Alliance for food security and nutrition.

The causes of chronic malnutrition, its economic impacts and consequences were discussed extensively. Towards the end of the round table discussion, a lobby/advocacy plan was envisage in order to address chronic malnutrition at different levels in Afghanistan.
