FAMILY MUAC PROJECT 2020 – SUN POOLED FUND

Under the no-cost extension of the SUN Pooled Fund Project Afghanistan, Action for Development (AfD), developed a project to train CHWs in Family MUAC in 5 provinces in Afghanistan – Panjsher, Kabul, Dykundi, Bamyan, Jawzjan - selecting several districts in each province where training in Family MUAC will be provided to caregivers and female CHWs. Community health workers in Afghanistan work as a male-female couple and are based in a health post, serving a population of 1000-1500 per pair.

International Day of the Girl Child

According to 2017 data, some 35 per cent of Afghan women aged 20 to 24 reported they were married while still children. On International Day of the Girl Child, 11 October, we need to amplify the voices and rights of girls everywhere. The theme for this year, “My voice, our equal future”, reimagines a better world inspired and led by adolescent girls, as part of the global #GenerationEquality movement. Girls worldwide are demanding a life free from gender-based violence, access to health, skills, recognition and investment as leaders of social change.

AfD becomes a Program Partner with Vitamin Angels

Alleviating malnutrition takes collaboration. AfD has partnered with Vitamin Angels and it has been awarded a grant of life-saving vitamins in order to improve our existing efforts in providing health services for marginalized communities in Afghanistan. AfD will be responsible for dispensing vitamins one meaningful dose at a time.
