AfD’s annual midwifery training program is underway, with the first phase completed on September 7. During this phase, 10 midwives from the region of Bamyan took part in a capacity enhancement and master training program. These professionals will now return to their rural health facilities, where they will transmit their newly acquired knowledge to one to five other midwives, according to the cascade model training system.
This is the third year that AfD’s midwifery training program takes place. These 10 new master trainers and their midwife pupils will add to the 211 midwives and 31 trainers that have followed the same program since 2014, in the provinces of Herat, Kaboul, Kapisa and Parwan.
